Monitor Test and Setup

If your computer monitor is not set up as described below,
images will not be displayed correctly.

Step #1: Laptop users, skip to step #3. Assign the monitor color space that came on the CD with your display. Windows Vista / 7 users go to Control Panels and then Color Management, Mac users go to System Preferences and then Displays and then Colors.

Step #2: Laptop users, skip to step #3. On your monitor, set your Gamma to 2.1 or 2.2 and Set your color temperature to 6500K or D65

Step #3: Adjust the "Contrast" control on your monitor until you can see all 5 of the white patches below as separate tones. It is common for this setting to be near the 100% mark.

Step #4: Adjust the "Brightness" control on your monitor until you can see all 5 of the black patches below as separate tones. This will often be closer to a 50% setting (often, not always). It is normal for the darkest two patches to be similar, a close examination should show a difference.

Step #5: Final Tests: You should now be able to see all steps below.

Please Note: The darkest two and/or brightest two steps can be hard to tell apart, a close examination should show a slight difference.
