INTRO TO DARKROOM CLASS #2 Black and White Film Development (HP- 5 film & NACCO D-76 developer mixed 1:1) |
Sequence:
| Step 1 | Developer: (be sure it's film developer not print developer!) Develop for 11 minutes at 68 degrees or 10.5 minutes at 70 degrees. Agitate continuously for the first 30 seconds and then for 5 seconds every 60 seconds. Tap the tank after each agitation procedure. |

| Step 2 | Stop Bath: Agitate continuously. NOTE: RETURN STOP BATH TO JAR! | 60 seconds |
| Step 3 | Fixer: 5 minutes. Agitate continuously for the first 30 seconds and then for 5 seconds every 60 seconds NOTE: RETURN FIXER TO JAR! | 5 minutes |
| Step 4 | Water Rinse: Fill and dump the canister with fresh water (about 70º F) | 1 minute |
| Step 5 | Hypo Clear: Agitate continuously. | 1 minute |
| Step 6 | Water Wash: In running water tray | 5 minutes |
| Step 7 | Photo Flo: with NO AGITATION! | 1 minute. |
| Step 8 | Hang to dry |

FILM DEVELOPMENT TIME CHART Find the 35mm film used in the left column and the developer used in the top row. The correct development time (at 68° F) is the intersection of those two rows. The standard developer at LTU is Nacco D-76 mixed 1:1. This is shown in purple. The standard film for Intro to Darkroom is Ilford HP-5 Plus, which is also shown in purple. |
